“The crux of Esquivel’s story is simple in its approach. The premise of Loki being banished from Asgard to Earth is intriguing enough, yet there is so much more than meets the eye. Esquivel succeeds on multiple levels. Yes, his narrative is fun and whimsical but he ultimately infuses this tale with steady doses of subtext which reveal him to be socially, politically and culturally conscious.”
